Teaching award for the bachelor module on feeds
In the winter semester 23/24, our feedstuffs module in the BSc Agricultural Sciences did very well in the teaching evaluation and took 2nd place in the module award at the graduation ceremony. Dr. Martin Hünerberg, Dr. Angela Sünder, Prof. Wolfgang Siegert and Prof. Jürgen Hummel are involved in the module. We are really very happy about the evaluation!

Poster prize for project from Fulawi
First results from the Fulawi project on nutrient composition of foliage were presented by Theresah Sarfo at the VDLUFA Annual Congress (24.-26.9.2024 in Karlsruhe). She was awarded the poster prize in the animal section there. Congratulations to Theresah, well done!

Prof. Hummel Vice President Animal Production at VDLUFA
At the annual meeting of the VDLUFA (Association of German Agricultural Testing and Research Institutes), Jürgen Hummel was appointed Vice President of Animal Production. Among other tasks, several working groups within the VDLUFA are developing and evaluating laboratory methods for a wide range of agricultural samples, not least for animal feed.

GreenFeed system for small ruminants
The Department of Animal Sciences recently acquired a GreenFeed system (C-Lock Inc.) for quantifying methane emissions in small ruminants. The device is constructed like an automatic feeder, in which a sensor is installed to measure methane, CO2 and H¬¬2 in the animal's respiratory gases.
