Optima and Calibri - Göttingen University’s fonts

Göttingen University’s corporate design comprises two different fonts: Optima LT Pro, Futura PT and Calibri. Which font is used when will be detailed below.

Optima LT Pro and Futura PT

Optima LT Pro is generally used for all externally commissioned print products and Futura PT is also used as an alternative for headlines.
Optima is the university's primary corporate font and includes the Roman, Italic, Bold and Bolditalic typefaces. It is a font that requires a licence and is therefore not available on all computers.
Futura PT is also a font that requires a licence. It is used in the university logo and can be used for print materials. As this font runs relatively wide, it is particularly suitable for headlines and less suitable for continuous text.

Calibri and Arial

As an alternative to Optima, the system fonts Calibri or Arial can be used for internally created materials and documents. They are the University’s secondary typefaces and are used both on our websites and on internal communications. They have been integrated into Microsoft Office well as Mac OS X and are therefore supported on almost all computers.
